Children’s Eligibility for Saint Kitts & Nevis Citizenship

When Applying in the Main Application children can be included in your initial CBI application if they meet the following conditions:

Under 18 years old

Automatically eligible
Aged 18–30
Children must be:
  • Unmarried
  • No requirement for full-time education.
  • Fully financially supported by the main applicant
upper age
No upper age limit for children with physical or mental disabilities who are fully financially dependent on the main applicant
When Adding Children After Citizenship is Granted
If a child is born or becomes eligible after you have obtained citizenship, they can be added through a separate application. The rules differ depending on their age and the timing of their birth:
  • Child born before you became a citizen

    • Due diligence applies from age 15.5 years and above
    • Government fee: US$ 30,000
    • Application fee: US$ 250
  • Child born after you submitted your CBI application but before receiving citizenship

    • Government fee: US$ 10,000
    • No due diligence required unless your application has been in process for over a year
  • Child born after you became a citizen — under 3 years old

    • Government fee: US$ 7,500
    • Due diligence: US$ 7,500 for the parent only
    • Application fee: US$ 250
  • Child born after you became a citizen — aged 3 years or older

    • Option 1: Through National Security Secretariat (if certain conditions are met) — fee: XCD 1,000 (~US$ 370), processing time up to 18 months
    • Option 2: Through CIU — same due diligence and government fees as above
Key Notes for Parents
  • All children must be biological or legally adopted
  • Adoption must be legal and fully recognized under the laws of the child’s country of origin
  • The main applicant must prove financial dependency for children over 18
  • Citizenship is lifetime and can be passed down to your children and their descendants without re-application
